Sunday am we got up and showered had coffee and whatnot.. We had slept with Bump the cat that lovingly attacked almost everything I owned at least once. The best is that Bump really wanted my phone and climbed my phone cord every few minutes to try and steal it.. There is nothing like a baby kitty hanging off a phone cord by its teeth. This was an ongoing thing to be repeated the next night too.
Bump and Maia were fast buds and lovingly played pretty much the whole time.
But TODAY we had plans and had to leave Bumpie behind.. Gidget looked so sad to see us leave. But we were going to the OC fair!
Took a bit to go there.. In fact I was surprised that driving in L.A. was a lot easier than driving up in San Jose despite the traffic. In Indiana most Prius drivers are attached to cellphones and total jackasses. In Southern Cali I was smiled at even let to change lanes.. Wow.. What a difference..
Not the L.A. I taught friends to drive in in the 80’s and 90’s..
So we get to the OC Fair and it takes forever to park.. And another forever just to find the stage.. Missing probably a whole set of someone’s wandering around..I see Tom the husband of Lisa and drummer of her band NUSHU and I go up to him and he walks me over to the Adam world..
Cathy hugs me and immediately sprays me down with sunscreen and Maia too. Then I find Hillary and go sit with Hillary’s dad and James her son out in front. I make casual conversation with everyone at this point but I am so distracted and happy to be there I can’t remember a word of conversation I had all day.
Sometime after 1:00pm Popdudes come on stage..It was clear MAGIC.. It was all very cool covers with special musician friends of John Borack. This time he used Hillary, Emma, and Tom of Nushu. Lisa came on for one song. It was fab! Just amazing..
They did classic awesomeness.

And a few other really awesome gems.
I danced I sang along and I took some really darn awesome pictures.
Then when they were done a smaller band played to give NUSHU a small break.
When NUSHU was on though I swear it was pure magic. I had wanted to see them play for years and I was finally here doing it.
I can’t even begin to describe the tears that filled my eyes. Watching good friends play songs they wrote that I love..

During the show I chased a few fun little kids and played. As when NUSHU is on even the kids get up and dance and have fun!
When the show was over another great band played called Walter Cleavenger and the dairy kings.
Sometime during all this my best buddy for years Dan joined me at my front row seats.. He compared NUSHU to Throwing Muses meets Letters to Cleo meets the Breeders.. All without knowing how much Hillary loves those bands as he had never met her till this day.
Maia took little James on the ferris wheel and we made plans to go to A place called 50/50 Slater’s for dinner afterwards.
Slater sis famous for a burger that is fifty percent bacon and fifty percent ground beef.
I was so in.. Knowing Maia would eat that shit alive.
So we go in and they give you this order form.. first you pick your meat..
Like a grocery list to check off.. 50/50, regular ground, turkery burger, veggie, chicken, etc….
Then the next few lists are condiments.
I got the veggie with avocado mash, cucumbers and cream cheese..
Maia did get the 50/50..
At the bottom of this list you name the burger.. I named mine the Gidget!
So original huh?
We all sat and bullshitted and just unwinded after a weekend of rush and concert enjoying..
I was sad when we ate and it was time to be over..
We all hugged.. My old friends and my new old friends.. Who were now friends with my old friends and friends alike..
We drove back to Rachel’s house missing a few exits but finally making it… we were exhausted so we talked a bit and then crashed hard…
As I texted from Rachel’s guest bed I saw little paws reaching up to steal my phone… and the game restarts!
